TEATT to publish names of verified public transportation permit holders as database clean-up enters final phase

GREAT BAY--The Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication, TEATT, will begin publishing the names of public transportation permit holders who have successfully completed the 2026 Confirmation Letter Process and whose records have been verified by the Inspectorate of Economic and Transport Affairs, IETA.

The names will be published over the coming weeks through a series of releases covering each category of public transportation as the Ministry moves into the final phase of its comprehensive database clean-up initiative.

Operators whose names are absent from the published list for their respective transportation category will have two weeks from the date of publication to contact IETA to confirm their operational status or complete any outstanding Confirmation Letter requirements.

The Ministry said publication of the lists will recognize operators who have fulfilled the requirements of the Confirmation Letter Process while also serving as a final public notification to permit holders whose names do not appear.

Following expiration of the two-week period, the Ministry will conduct a final review of all outstanding permits. Cases in which a permit holder fails to respond, or where it is determined that a permit has not been used continuously for more than six months, may be referred to the Minister for administrative action. This can include temporary suspension or permanent revocation of the permit in accordance with Article 16(g) of the National Ordinance on Passenger Transport.

TEATT, through IETA, is therefore making a final appeal to public transportation permit holders who have not yet completed the 2026 Confirmation Letter Process to do so within the coming weeks. The process forms part of the Ministry's effort to establish and maintain an accurate and reliable database of licensed public transportation operators.

Since the 2026 Confirmation Letter Process began in January, approximately 40 car rental companies, 120 passenger bus operators and 380 taxi operators have completed the process and received their 2026 Confirmation Letters. Several Touring Car and Unregulated Transport operators are also in the final stages of completing their submissions.

IETA has nevertheless identified permit holders across all categories who have not participated in the process. These operators were identified through Road Tax records and information collected during the 2025 Confirmation Letter Process but have not contacted the Ministry to indicate whether they remain active.

Permit holders who have permanently ceased operations, temporarily suspended their services or have not used their permits for six months or longer are being urged to formally notify IETA so that government records can be updated.

The Ministry stressed that an accurate database will provide a stronger basis for transportation policy, regulatory oversight, inspections, enforcement planning and public service delivery. Completion of the initiative is expected to result in the first comprehensive and verified database of active public transportation operators in recent years.
