HONG KONG--Steflogix General Manager Michael Somersall attended the 2026 Global Public Health and Food Safety Summit in Hong Kong, joining international experts in public health, food safety, vector control and pest management.

The summit brought together professionals from across the world to discuss key public health and food safety issues, including vector-borne disease prevention, integrated pest management and the One Health approach, which recognizes the connection between human, animal and environmental health.

One of the major areas of discussion was the role of Pest Control Operators, PCOs, as frontline partners in protecting public health, particularly during disaster recovery. Following hurricanes, floods and other natural disasters, PCOs play an important role in controlling mosquito populations, mapping and reducing rodent infestations, preventing disease outbreaks and helping communities recover safely.

The summit also emphasized the importance of prevention through strong food safety systems, effective pest management programs and international collaboration to address emerging public health challenges.

“Attending this summit provided valuable insight into global best practices and emerging trends that will help strengthen the services and solutions we provide throughout the Caribbean,” Somersall said. “The recognition of Pest Control Operators as frontline public health professionals during disaster recovery is particularly relevant for our region, where vector control is a critical component of protecting communities after hurricanes and other emergencies.”

Steflogix said its participation forms part of its ongoing effort to bring international best practices and current industry knowledge to the Caribbean. The company continues to build expertise in food safety management, HACCP implementation, pest management, sanitation and public health protection.

As food systems become more interconnected and public health challenges continue to evolve, Steflogix said it remains focused on helping organizations build safer environments, strengthen compliance and protect the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve.

Based in St. Maarten, Steflogix is an environmental and public health solutions company specializing in food safety certification, HACCP support, pest management, sanitation and public health protection. Co-founded in 2012 by former public health chief inspector Michael Somersall and Stephanie Somersall-Melaet, the company works with organizations to reduce food safety hazards, pest-borne risks and other environmental health threats while supporting stronger compliance and safer operations.
