GREAT BAY--The Department of Statistics (STAT) has launched a new website and interactive statistical dashboard, giving residents, businesses, researchers, students and policymakers easier access to official data on St. Maarten's economy, population, tourism, employment and other key areas.

The new digital platform is designed to make Government statistics more accessible, transparent and easier to understand, while allowing users to explore information, compare figures and identify trends without relying solely on published statistical reports.

Through the website, users can access information covering prices and inflation, the labor market, population and demographics, tourism, national accounts, economic indicators and social statistics. The department plans to expand the platform as additional publications, datasets and statistical information become available.

One of the main features is the interactive dashboard, which allows users to conduct customized searches and examine statistical information according to their specific needs. Users can select indicators, choose time periods, apply filters and compare available data across different years or categories.

The system also allows users to explore trends and generate customized queries, providing a practical resource for businesses assessing economic conditions, policymakers developing initiatives, researchers examining social and economic developments, and residents interested in understanding changes affecting the country.

STAT explained that making statistics publicly available is only one aspect of improving access to information. Equally important is ensuring that users understand what the figures represent, how they are calculated and how statistical developments relate to everyday life.

To address this, the department intends to introduce additional initiatives that explain statistical indicators in straightforward language, making data easier for the general public to interpret and use.

The launch coincides with October's regional observance of the importance of official statistics across the Caribbean. The 2026 regional theme, "Harmonising Data, Strengthening Resilience," emphasizes the need for reliable and comparable statistical information to help Caribbean countries understand economic and social developments and respond to emerging challenges.

According to STAT, the new website and dashboard form part of its broader commitment to improving public access to official statistics and strengthening the use of data in decision-making and national development.

The department is encouraging members of the public to explore the platform and familiarize themselves with the information available. The interactive dashboard can be accessed by selecting the blue dashboard icon located at the bottom-left corner of the website.

STAT also intends to continue expanding the range of information available online, providing users with additional resources to monitor developments in St. Maarten over time.
