GREAT BAY--Coaches participating in the Sport Unites! program have successfully completed a Youth Empowerment Training designed to strengthen their ability to support and guide young people through sport.
The coaches received their certificates following four interactive training sessions delivered by A Fresh Start Foundation. The sessions focused on positive youth development, effective coaching, communication and the creation of safe and inclusive environments for young participants.
Sport Unites! is a collaborative program of the National Sports Institute and the St. Maarten Sports Federation. The initiative uses structured sports activities to help young people build confidence, discipline, teamwork, respect, resilience and other important life skills.
As part of the training process, the coaches were also observed and supported during their own sports sessions. This practical component allowed them to apply what they learned and receive guidance on how to improve their approach when working directly with young people.
The St. Maarten Sports Federation said the training represents an important investment in the quality and long-term impact of the Sport Unites! program.
By strengthening the knowledge and skills of participating coaches, the program aims to ensure that young people across St. Maarten are supported by positive role models both on and off the field.
The Federation congratulated all participating coaches on completing the training and receiving their certificates, noting that their continued development will contribute to safer, more supportive and more meaningful sporting experiences for young people.
