Sound 2000’s Earl “Churchie” York recognized by Antigua Prime Minister for stage production

ST.MAARTEN/ANTIGUA--Sound 2000, St. Maarten’s most recognized sound, stage and event production companies, marked a proud milestone recently when Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, the Honorable Gaston Browne, personally thanked Earl “Churchie” York for a job well done following the successful delivery of a major stage project in Antigua.

The moment was described as a deeply humbling one for York and the Sound 2000 team, as the Government of Antigua had entrusted the St. Maarten-based company with the responsibility of designing and delivering a stage that would give Antigua the platform and production space needed to perform at its highest level.

A year ago, the Government of Antigua placed its confidence in Sound 2000 for the undertaking. York personally hand-designed the stage and sent the concept out for production eight months ago. The result is now being celebrated as one of the largest stages on this side of the Caribbean, a major accomplishment in regional event production and technical design.

Sound 2000 extended heartfelt thanks to the Government of Antigua for trusting the company with such a significant project, noting that the achievement reflects vision, craftsmanship, planning and strong collaboration.

The recognition comes in a milestone year for Sound 2000, which is celebrating 30 years in business. Founded in St. Maarten, the company has built a strong reputation over the past three decades for sound, staging, lighting and technical production services, serving events, concerts, festivals and major public gatherings locally and throughout the Caribbean.

Sound 2000 is widely known across the region for providing professional production support to various festivals and large-scale entertainment events. Its work has helped raise the standard of event execution, while also positioning St. Maarten talent and expertise on major regional stages.

For York, who is also widely known in St. Maarten’s cultural and entertainment circles, the Antigua project represents more than a technical achievement. It stands as a testament to Caribbean creativity, regional trust and the capacity of local companies to deliver at an international level.
