GREAT BAY--Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) is continuing its commitment to community development through its Corporate Social Responsibility program, with the island’s youth remaining a key area of focus.
As students across St. Maarten returned to the classroom for the new academic year, PJIA partnered with the RISE Foundation through its Back-to-School Project to provide children with essential school supplies. PJIA contributed 300 new pencil cases, while airport partners WINAIR and Versant Accountants & Consultants sponsored an additional 50 packed pencil cases containing school supplies.
Versant coordinated the selection and transportation of the school supplies to St. Maarten to ensure they arrived in time for the start of the school year. After learning about the initiative, WINAIR’s Roberto Gibbs committed to sponsoring the supplies in recognition of the airline’s 65th anniversary of service to the islands.

Mrs. Boyce-Gittens highlighted the importance of ensuring that children begin the school year feeling supported and prepared.
“There is always excitement in the air as the children of our island prepare to go back to school. We believe that every child, regardless of financial status, family size, or the school they attend, deserves to feel special as they head back to the classroom for a new year of adventure and learning.”
Distribution of the school materials began this week in collaboration with the RISE Foundation, helping to ensure that the supplies reach children and families throughout the community. PJIA Chief Executive Officer Mr. Cleaver said investing in young people remains an important part of the airport’s responsibility to St. Maarten.
“Support for our children is at the core of our Corporate Social Responsibility commitment. Something as simple as starting the school year with new supplies can bring excitement and confidence and we are pleased to work alongside partners like WINAIR, Versant and the RISE Foundation to make this possible.”
PJIA said it remains committed to developing meaningful community partnerships and initiatives that have a lasting impact across St. Maarten, with young people continuing to be a central focus of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.
