GREAT BAY--The Performance Sports Academy (PSA) Athletics Association's 2026 High School Basketball League enters its final week of competition on Wednesday, October 14, with teams preparing to battle for the championship title at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium.
The league, which began on September 1, brought together all 10 high schools on the Dutch side of St. Maarten, providing young basketball players with an opportunity to represent their schools, develop their skills and compete in organized sporting competition.
The playoff schedule opens Wednesday with two games. MAC-CSE will face St. Dominic High School at 5:30 p.m., followed by CIA against LU at 6:35 p.m.
The quarterfinals will take place Thursday, October 15, with CBA facing the winner of Wednesday's CIA versus LU matchup in the opening game. At 6:35 p.m., St. Maarten Academy Academic will meet the winner of the MAC-CSE versus St. Dominic High School contest.
Competition will conclude Saturday, October 17, with a six-game schedule beginning at noon. The day's activities will include the semifinals and championship finals, with the finals scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
An awards ceremony will follow immediately after the championship games, recognizing team achievements and outstanding individual performances throughout the season.

PSA is encouraging students, parents, teachers, school administrators, alumni and the wider community to attend the games and support the participating schools as they compete for the 2026 championship.
The association hopes the final week will attract strong community support, giving the student-athletes an opportunity to showcase their abilities while representing their respective schools.
Admission is US$2 for adults and US$1 for children. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase, with proceeds contributing to the operation of the league and supporting youth basketball activities.
Beyond the high school championship, PSA is already preparing for its upcoming Elementary School Basketball League, which is expected to begin soon.
Further information about the elementary school competition will be announced through the academy's Facebook page, Performance Sports Academy-SXM, and its Instagram account, @performance_sports_academy_sxm.
The association is also seeking businesses interested in sponsoring school teams for the 2027 basketball season.
According to PSA, sponsorship plays an important role in sustaining organized basketball opportunities for young athletes, helping them develop their skills, gain competitive experience and represent their schools.
Businesses interested in supporting a team or obtaining additional information about sponsorship opportunities can contact the PSA Athletics Association at performancesportssxm@gmail.com.
The academy is encouraging the community to turn out for the remaining games and support the young athletes as the 2026 high school basketball season reaches its conclusion.
