GREAT BAY--Stuart Johnson, Chief of Staff to the Honorable Prime Minister of Sint Maarten, has issued a firm and direct statement condemning repeated attempts to distort his character, his values, and his longstanding commitment to workers’ rights.
Johnson noted that in recent months, certain individuals, including members of the opposition, have deliberately and selectively referenced his former role as President of the Windward Islands Teachers Union (WITU) only when politically convenient, and often in ways that misrepresent both his record and his principles.
“I refuse to be used as a political pawn, prop, or instrument in anyone’s agenda,” Johnson stated. “The ongoing attempts to twist and weaponize my former leadership in the WITU are dishonest, manipulative, and intended solely to mislead the public.”
He stressed that his history as a union leader is something he carries with pride — and with unwavering conviction.
“My core beliefs remain my core beliefs — yesterday, today, and tomorrow,” Johnson asserted. “My commitment to fairness, accountability, workers’ rights, and the dignity of every employee has never changed, regardless of my current advisory role or any role I may hold in the future.”
Johnson emphasized that his principles are grounded in decades of advocacy and service, not political convenience.
“I will never apologize for standing up for workers. I will never apologize for demanding fairness. I will never apologize for operating with integrity,” he said. “Those values do not shift depending on my title. They are who I am.”
He also issued a firm warning to those seeking to redefine his public image through false narratives.
“Anyone attempting to distort my record or my convictions should understand this: I will challenge every fabrication, every misrepresentation, and every politically motivated attempt to rewrite my history,” Johnson said. “My principles are not for sale, not negotiable, and not subject to political manipulation.”
Johnson concluded with a reaffirmation of his dedication to the people of Sint Maarten.
“My service to this country has always been grounded in honesty, respect, and a commitment to the betterment of our people,” he stated. “No amount of political noise will change that.”
