GREAT BAY--NV GEBE is urging customers with overdue accounts to take immediate steps to address their outstanding balances, while also making clear that threats, intimidation, harassment and abusive behavior toward its employees will not be tolerated.

The company said customers who have fallen behind on their electricity and water payments should visit its offices as soon as possible and speak with a Customer Care Representative. By making contact early, customers give NV GEBE the opportunity to review their situation and discuss possible payment arrangements before service interruption becomes necessary.

NV GEBE said it understands that some customers may have built up balances over time due to different personal or financial circumstances. The company stressed that its intention is not to create hardship, but to work with customers toward practical solutions where possible.

As the utility provider for the community, NV GEBE said it remains committed to supplying reliable electricity and water services to homes and businesses across St. Maarten. However, the company noted that the continued delivery of these essential services also depends on customers paying for the services they use.

NV GEBE said the relationship between the company and its customers must be based on shared responsibility. The company has a responsibility to provide safe and reliable electricity and water, while customers have a responsibility to keep their accounts current. This balance, NV GEBE said, is necessary to protect the long-term sustainability of the utility services used by the entire community.

The company also reminded the public that its employees must be treated with respect while carrying out their duties. Threats, intimidation, harassment or abusive behavior directed at employees, whether in person, by telephone, on social media or through any other means, will be taken seriously and may be referred to the relevant authorities when necessary.

NV GEBE said its employees are members of the same community they serve and deserve to work in a safe and respectful environment.

The company encouraged any customer with concerns about their account to contact NV GEBE directly so that the matter can be addressed and possible solutions can be explored.

NV GEBE said it remains committed to serving the people of St. Maarten with professionalism, fairness and transparency.
